Rijksmuseum Amsterdam

Design proposal for the Rijksmuseum of the Netherlands in Amsterdam. A new way of dealing with the image archive of the Rijksmuseum was proposed to find a fresh angle for the material at the museum's disposal. The selected material was at first largely made up of photography of design objects. During the course of the project, the selection was widened to include paintings and sculpture. The idea to give some form of stolen tactility back to the works of applied arts became central, the images that represent them online were cut into layers that the viewer is able to "slide" into place, using the means of a mouse or trackpad to bring the materiality back into focus through interaction design.
